The Impact of California Wildfires: An Analysis

This was a project I worked on with my fellow classmate, Ana Maria Hernandez, during our undergrad. We looked at Californian wildfires to see if there was any connection between most destructive, deadliest, and largest wildfires. Acreages burned, duration of fires, structures burned, season, fatalities, causes, and region were factors used to determine the connections. Various methods were used for the analysis. Applied Economics Capstone

Minimum Wage Effects on the Unemployment Rate

I worked on this project in two different classes before creating this final version as my capstone project for my Master’s. For the final version, I expanded on the years in which the data for each variable was pulled to include the years 2012 to 2022. The dependent variable used was the unemployment rate and the independent variables used were minimum wage, population, gross domestic product (GDP), completion of higher education as a percentage, and consumer price index (CPI) as an annual percentage change. Qualitative Analysis for Decision Making Paper

Donations to the Paralyzed Veterans of America Organization

This was a paper I wrote for my Qualitative Analysis for Decision Making class during my Master’s. We were asked to look at how the Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) could increase their efficiency by using a model to show the amount of donations based on past giving and demographic variables of their donors. The statistical method used for this analysis was multiple regression analysis. For more, click below.

Financial Accounting Paper

Starbucks Analysis

This was a paper I wrote for my Financial Accounting class during my Master’s. For this paper, we were asked to look through the financial reports of Starbucks and analyze the given information. This paper features a section of horizontal and vertical analyses completed on accounts receivable, fixed and intangible assets, depreciation and amortization, short- and long-term debt. A ratio analysis was also completed using the given information and calculating the liquidity, solvency, and profitability ratios. We were also asked to analyze Starbucks based on the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) reporting requirements. For more, click below.

Microeconomic Theory/Analysis Paper

Investment Opportunity Analysis: Bombas

This was a paper I wrote for my Microeconomic Theory/Analysis class during my Master’s. For this paper, we were asked to select a product for our company to invest in. I chose Bombas as they were in every ad playing on my TV and they were looking to expand their product line. Bombas is known for their one-for-one motto, created by Toms, in which one purchase of socks gives a pair of socks to someone in need. Intro to Graduate Economics Paper

Great Depression and the 2007-2009 Recession

This was a paper I wrote for my Into to Graduate Economics class during my Master’s. For this paper, we were asked to compare the Great Depression to the 2007-2009 Recession by analyzing governmental, financial, and public institutional reactions of then and now. Proctor and Gamble Macroeconomic Analysis

This was the second paper I wrote for my Economics for Business class during my Master’s as part of the final project. For this paper, we were asked to select a company and one of its products or services. I chose to analyze Proctor and Gamble (P&G) and Dawn dish soap. This paper discusses the impact and trends of three macroeconomic variables over three years, macroeconomic policies, and macroeconomic conditions and company performance.
