Trying Sweet Loren’s Products

I have been buying Sweet Loren’s chocolate chip cookie dough for a while.  I found out about her cookie dough products from a youtuber who tried and recommended them a couple years back.  If you know anyone who is gluten-free or if you are yourself, you know finding gluten-free alternatives to certain products is difficult. It can be even more difficult if you are allergic to nuts as nut flours tend to be the alternative to wheat flour when it comes to baking.  Some gluten-free alternatives either taste like cardboard or have no flavor at all.  At the end of 2023, I saw an Instagram post from Sweet Loren’s discussing a surprise cookie dough launch for the fall/winter season.  Once it was revealed that the fall cookie dough launch would be Pumpkin Spice, I had to have them.

I am not one for pumpkin spice chai lattes or pumpkin pie, but I do love pumpkin bread and I have made pumpkin chocolate chip cookies in the past.  I can say the Pumpkin Spice cookie dough was my favorite and I was disappointed when they announced the final day of their release was around November 2023.  This reminds me so much of Fall.

That same day they also announced the release of two more cookie doughs for the winter season – Chocolate Mint and Gingerbread.  I was honestly not the least bit surprised that I did not like these two cookies.  I am not a fan of their fudgy brownie cookie dough and I do not like Andes Candies (the ones Olive Garden gives out after your meal).  So, the Chocolate mint was not my favorite.  It was extremely overpowering in the mint department.  My mom wasn’t a fan either and she loves Girl Scout Thin Mints and Andes Candies.  The Gingerbread was okay and, in my opinion, a close second to Pumpkin Spice (only looking at seasonal flavors).  By far, my go to is chocolate chip when I am not in the mood to stand and make my own cookies, which I typically make my own during the holidays. 

In terms of their other flavors, I am not a fan of their fudgy brownie, my grandmother loves their Oatmeal Cranberry, and I have not tried their sugar cookie or less sugar products.  The best thing about their products is that they are plant based, gluten-free, dairy-free, and peanut/tree nut free.  You can eat this raw if you want to, which I have had a few pieces that have broken off while putting them on the baking sheet.  You can also cook as many as you want at a time.  The other positive is that their cookie dough is manufactured in a dedicated facility that is free of the top 14 allergens and sensitivities: Gluten, Peanut, Tree Nut, Soy, Milk, Egg, Celery, Mustard, Sesame, Sulfites, Lupin, Fish, Mollusk, and Crustacean.

Sweet Loren’s also announced the launch of their newest flavor: Salted Caramel Chocolate. It also appears the pumpkin spice will be returning this fall, and the chocolate mint and gingerbread will be returning this winter. Please let the pumpkin spice carry into November 2024.

Breakfast Biscuits

Growing up I always ate Nutrigrain bars in either mixed berry or blueberry.  I have never had the chance to eat breakfast biscuits prior to going gluten-free and this was my chance.  Once I saw the announcement and saw it was being sold at Whole Foods, I told my mom I wanted to get one of each flavor: cinnamon sugar, chocolate, and blueberry.  In one box, there are five packs with each pack containing three biscuits.

I first tried the cinnamon sugar and my first impression was that it didn’t taste like cardboard.  However, with time I discovered that it was drying my throat out and making me hungry within 30 minutes.  I do realize this is not a meal, but I cannot eat a lot in the morning so breakfast biscuits are perfect.

I also did not like the blueberry ones.  I don’t know if I was expecting it to taste like the blueberry Nutrigrain bars, but I felt it needed a little more sugar and the blueberries (not my favorite fruit) seemed to overpower the taste.

My favorite, and the ones my local Whole Foods does not keep stock of often, are the chocolate biscuits.  I have made sure the shelf tag is visible, which worked for one week before they were out again. They are the perfect amount of sweetness and the right amount of chocolate.  My mom prefers these over the other two as well.  The only thing that bothers me from time to time is that the oat pieces do get stuck to the roof of my mouth, which can happen with any of them. Alternatively, these can be bought in bulk (three boxes) from Amazon - just be aware the biscuits may be a little broken.

If you’re looking for a quick breakfast or snack, I highly recommend Sweet Loren’s breakfast biscuits.  There are also plant based, gluten free, dairy free, and peanut/tree nut free.  They are also made in a specially designed room free of gluten, wheat, dairy, peanuts, and tree nuts that also processes products containing eggs and soy.  Sweet Loren’s does have strict allergen cleaning controls and they have tests in place to ensure allergen control standards are met.  Sweet Loren’s recommends: 1. Dunking them in your coffee or latte; 2. Spreading sun or nut butter in between; 3. Crumble them as a topping on yogurt with fruit if desired; 4. Simply eat it as is, which is just as good.

Sweet Loren’s products can be found at your local Target, Costco, Sprouts, Whole Foods, Amazon, Publix, Wegmans.  Sweet Loren’s has also announced Lemon cookie dough (at a convention and appears to be limited in terms of availability and location), Pizza Crust dough (available now), and Puff Pastry dough (available now). I’m still trying to find the Chocolate Lover’s cookie dough; has anyone else found it?
